The Original Position: Multifold Dialogue is part of a Relational Aesthetics multi-disciplinary and research driven project, based on the theory of the American Philosopher John Rawls 'A Theory of Justice'. This step is the first part of the visualization & evaluation of the theory, which functions as a response to Rawls's thought experiment 'The Vail of Ignorance', where he speculates a state under which people can write the new principles of justice based on mutual dependence. With an AR Instagram effect Zimbalista invited people to mark their shadows and to add them to the project's reservoir. The shadow contains within it each of our own personal interests, and the human characteristic features that prevent us from thinking for the greater good. With the shadow reservoir, he created a video piece that functions as a new hypothetical starting point for the creation of a discourse upon justice. The Multifold Dialogue draws a narrative that critics Rawls's idea of The Vail of Ignorance, and continues to an understanding that a conversation about justice can be realized only when an individual looks in the eyes of every other individual in the world and see them as equal to them. The AR Instagram effect is an evolution of his previous video work Audition #1 where Zimbalista acts upon The Vail of Ignorance by painting and marking his shadow over a piece of fabric.
